High School
The High School experience extends far beyond the classroom walls at Woodford with learning made relevant through self-directed learning, experiential projects/tasks, service oriented inquiry, and student organizations. WIS’ high school is for students aged 14-18 years old in the grade level years of 9, 10, 11, and 12.
Cambridge Secondary Program
High school students at Woodford begin to specialize more than they did in middle school. English Language and Literature, Mathematics, Biology, Geography, Information & Communication Technology (ICT), and Physical Education continue to be compulsory subjects, while students also choose two additional subjects: Chemistry & Physics or Business Studies and History.
In all these subjects (except for physical education) they start a two-year preparation for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams which are taken at the end of Year 10 (October - November), while at the end of Year 10, students will choose the subjects which they wish to study for AS and A Level in Year 11 & 12.
Cambridge International AS/A Levels are internationally benchmarked qualifications providing excellent preparation for university education. They are part of the Cambridge Advanced stage. They are taken in over 125 countries and offer a choice of many different subjects. Cambridge International AS/A Level qualifications are widely recognized and valued by universities and employers alike. The AS/A Level qualifications give students the opportunity to further their studies at world renowned universities around the world.
What is the Cambridge International Curriculum?
Cambridge schools worldwide have helped develop Cambridge IGCSE, which provides excellent preparation for the Cambridge Advanced stage including Cambridge International AS/A Levels and Cambridge Pre-U, as well as other progression routes. Cambridge IGCSE teachers can draw on excellent resources, training, and advice from subject experts.
Cambridge Upper Secondary (IGCSE) is the world’s most popular international curriculum for 14-16-year-olds, leading to globally recognized and valued Cambridge IGCSE qualifications. Over 9,000 schools worldwide teach it. Almost 500,000 entries each year from 144 countries.
Cambridge CIE is the group award of the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and requires the study of subjects drawn from the five different IGCSE subject groups. It gives schools the opportunity to benefit from offering a broad and balanced curriculum by recognizing the achievements of students who pass examinations in at least seven subjects.
